At Home Movie Night

There is nothing more relaxing than unwinding after a long week of work by setting up a mattress in our living room filling it with pillows and blankets and settling in for a movie night with my husband and baby girl. This is one of my favorite date nights that my husband and I do and is so low key especially if you are having a hard time finding a sitter.

In order to separate this from just any ordinary night of watching TV at home it is important to set the right ambiance. For us that means completely redoing the living room to have a comfortable place for us all to snuggle as well as lowering the lights, lighting some candles, popping popcorn, getting our favorite drinks, and breaking out the candy. We also usually try to find a new movie to rent on Amazon Prime to make it feel more like going out to the movies.

This can also make for a great surprise date night if you can get home early to set up and go to the store to get your Partner’s favorite snacks and drinks. Bonus points for watching a movie that you wouldn’t usually watch but know they really want to see.

In case you need snack ideas, here are a few of our favorites.

  • Movie Theater Style Popcorn with Extra Butter
  • Caramel Popcorn
  • Peanut Butter Filled Pretzels
  • Mandarin Oranges
  • Grapes
  • Chips with Salsa and Guacamole
  • Pizza

I’m Michelle

I think life is all about making special moments. Since having our little one this has become a little harder but it has also given me even more reason to go all out in parenting, date nights, self-care, and traveling the world with the people I love. I am always looking for new ideas on how to improve in all of these areas so I hope these posts will also serve as inspiration for you as you search for ways to make your own special moments.
