Best Surprise Date at a Restaurant

My husband surprised me with the most memorable and magical Anniversary date night at the Capital Grille in Seattle! While Capital Grille is a very nice restaurant that was not what made the night great. When we entered the restaurant I was ready to have a normal night you would expect when going out for a date at a fancy restaurant. One where you waited for your reservation, got seated at your table, and then ordered from their usual menu. Nice but ordinary. Instead, I was greeted with a table lightly sprinkled with rose petals, lit by romantic candle light, and a special menu designed with limited options for an appetizer, entree, and dessert personalized especially for us. To top it our server who already knew our names already had a bottle of red wine at the ready the moment we sat down. A true VIP experience!

Unbeknownst to me my husband had pre-arranged all of this and it didn’t even cost him anything extra. Before this incredibly special evening I didn’t even know you could request a personalized menu at a restaurant but it turns out certain places are more than happy to accommodate and elevate your evening so I would strongly encourage everyone who is planning a special evening to give it a try. The worse that can happen is that they say no but there is always that chance they say yes and you get to sweep your loved one off of their feet and make them feel so loved and special.

On top of just the extra VIP experience from the preset table and above and beyond service, I have to give my husband credit for how much he nailed what I would like to see on the personalized menu and the selection of wine he chose. This is what really made the whole experience for me and made it really hard to choose what I wanted to try off of our limited menu (which we got to keep as a keepsake by the way) so if you are planning on trying this out for yourself make sure you are prepared with some ideas of what you would like on the menu before making the call. Which if it is a new restaurant you haven’t been to before might require some homework on what they usually serve so you can narrow it down to your favorite choices. This will make an already personalized experience perfect. If this tip ends up working for you I would love to know which restaurant you went to and how it went. So have fun and Bon Appetit!

I’m Michelle

I think life is all about making special moments. Since having our little one this has become a little harder but it has also given me even more reason to go all out in parenting, date nights, self-care, and traveling the world with the people I love. I am always looking for new ideas on how to improve in all of these areas so I hope these posts will also serve as inspiration for you as you search for ways to make your own special moments.
